Eng. Dr. Haydn I. Furlonge has over twenty-five years of energy sector experience involving projects and assets located in Trinidad & Tobago, Brunei, Canada, Myanmar and Malaysia. He has held diverse management positions in oil and gas exploration, development, production and regulation, petrochemicals, power, LNG, pipeline, gas processing, fabrication and offshore supply base, shipping and commodity trading. Dr. Furlonge has consulted for the UNDP, IDB and CDB on climate change strategy, and World Bank on LNG.  He is an Adjunct Lecturer in Sustainable Energy Management at the Arthur Lok Jack Global School of Business, UWI, and previously initiated natural gas-related research at the then newly formed The University of Trinidad and Tobago.  He is a Past-President of the Association of Professional Engineers of Trinidad and Tobago (APETT) and Member of IChemE Learned Society Committee (2021-2024).  Dr. Furlonge holds a Ph.D. degree from Imperial College London, M.Phil. and B.Sc. degrees from UWI in Chemical Engineering. He is a Registered Engineer in T&T (R.Eng.), European Engineer (Eur. Eng.), Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE), and Member of the Association of International Energy Negotiators.

Mr. Chavez is a Director of Power Market Consulting for the Americas at S&P Global consulting team. He brings over 15 years of experience in the energy sector with a focus on power, renewable energy and natural gas from strategic, commercial and decarbonization perspectives. He has advised governments, ISOs, utilities, developers, load serving entities, C&I customers, and financial institutions as they aim for balance between affordable, sustainable and secure energy. Prior to joining S&P Global, Mr Chavez was a strategy consultant at Strategy & PwC where he was leading the LatAm consulting team as a director.  He spent the earlier part of his career with Engie, where he carried out business development initiatives based on the company’s portfolio and regional footprint and IRENA, where he expanded the scope of the Agency’s knowledge management and technology cooperation in the MENA region. Guillermo holds an MA in International Energy from Sciences Po, an MSc in Energy Engineering from EPF in Paris, and a Physics Engineering Degree (BSc) from Monterrey Institute of Technology. The Energy Reform in Mexico that took place in 2013 allowed him to develop new energy consulting offerings in Power and Natural Gas sectors. He advised +2/3 of awarded companies in Mexico’s Clean Energy Auctions, using power market simulation models to provide winning bidding strategies. He advised multiple banks, and utilities in commercial due diligence through price projections. And he developed electricity procurement strategies for C&I clients to reduce their electricity bill and decarbonize their consumption.  He is excited and looking forward to applying these experiences during APETT Conference
