Roger Anthony Camacho is a Registered Professional Engineer in Trinidad & Tobago and the State of Oklahoma, USA, with almost fifty years’ experience in industry. He began his technical education at John Donaldson Technical Institute in 1971. This was followed by a Diploma of Technology (Magna Cum Laude) in Natural Gas and Petroleum Technology from the British Columbia Institute of Technology, a Bachelor of Science degree (Cum Laude) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA, and a Master of Science degree in Engineering also from the University of Tulsa. His engineering career began at T&TEC (now Powergen) in the “A” and “B” power stations of the Port of Spain power station and followed by four years on offshore production platforms at Amoco Trinidad Oil Company. After AMOCO he worked with the National Hospital Management Company Limited (NHMC). During his tenure at the NHMC, Engineer Camacho was responsible for numerous designs and management of dozens of projects in the health sector. Engineer Camacho went into private practice after the NHMC was closed by the Government in 1988. Over the last 35 years, he was engaged by numerous clients in the manufacturing sector and as a consultant to engineering consulting firms in Trinidad. Engineer Camacho is also a consultant with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and has worked in all the territories of the English-speaking Caribbean, from Belize in the north to Guyana in the south. Engineer Camacho is involved in the development of the profession through the Association of Professional Engineers of Trinidad and Tobago (APETT). He held various positions at APETT including Assistant Treasurer for two terms, Treasurer for two terms, and Vice President for one term. Engineer Camacho has taught several courses and seminars through APETT and privately. Engineer Camacho also taught part time at John S. Donaldson Technical Institute, the University of Tulsa, and through PAHO. Engineer Camacho serves on the boards of several private and state organizations. He is the current Chairman of the Boiler Examiners Board, Chairman of the Hoists and Lifts Technical Committee, board member of OSHA, and board member/treasurer of the Board of Engineering of Trinidad and Tobago. He has taken part in numerous National Technical Consultations and is involved in other national professional and social institutions. He has completed numerous innovative designs in the manufacturing sector and is the author of the PAHO Maintenance Manual for hospitals, several referred publications and presentations.
