Professor Clément Imbert is a Professor Emeritus in Mechanical/Metallurgical/Manufacturing Engineering of The University of the West Indies (UWI), St. Augustine. He is a Past President and Fellow of the Association of Professional Engineers of Trinidad and Tobago (APETT), a Registered Engineer of the Board of Engineering of Trinidad and Tobago, and a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (FASME). He was Secretary General of the Council of Caribbean Engineering Organizations (CCEO) for 10 years. He graduated with a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering (Hons.) from UWI and went on to study for the M.Sc. in Metallurgical Quality Control at Brunel University, London, UK. He also completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical/Metallurgical Engineering from UWI, in collaboration with Concordia and McGill Universities, Montreal, Canada.
Professor Imbert has taught at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and has over 192 publications and presentations, comprising refereed journals, local and international conferences and seminars, technical reports as well as books, reports and proceedings. He has supervised scores of undergraduate capstone projects, several international exchange students and over 30 postgraduate theses. He has held several academic administrative positions and Board appointments, including the Chairmanship of The University of Trinidad and Tobago. He has also been on several local, regional and international committees and has served as an industry consultant to various organizations. He has been involved in the steel pan industry for decades as a researcher and administrator, serving on several committees over the years for the advancement of the instrument.
Professor Imbert is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including the Chaconia Medal (Gold), the Order of Trinidad and Tobago (the second highest and highest national awards respectively), the Vice Chancellor's Award for Excellence for Public Service (UWI's highest award), the Career of Excellence in Engineering (APETT's highest award) and NIHERST's Gold Award for Excellence in Science and Technology.
